Gary D. Finch

     Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C-Springport) was recently appointed Deputy Minority Whip for the Assembly Republican Conference by Assembly Republican Leader James Tedisco. In his new leadership position, Assemblyman Finch will be responsible for ensuring that Republican members are present on the floor for important and necessary votes as well orientation of new members to the conference. Finch will make sure the members are briefed on important bills being brought before the chamber and that members are prepared for debate.

     “As legislators, one of the most important pieces of our jobs is to physically cast a vote on the Assembly floor,” said Finch. “Not every piece of legislation that is drafted is brought to the floor to be adopted, and it is imperative that we take it very seriously when we are given the opportunity to cast a vote for those that do.”

     “I am grateful Leader Tedisco has given me the opportunity to fill the post and I’m eager for the responsibility,” said Finch. “I have a very positive outlook for the next two years, and will continue my efforts in making Central New York the greatest place in all of New York.”

     First elected to the Assembly in 1999, Finch has risen quickly to various positions on committees and now conference leadership.
