FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 6, 2007
STATEMENT FROM ASSEMBLYMAN GARY D. FINCH ON PASSAGE OF CIVIL CONFINEMENT LEGISLATION
Fourteen years after its first introduction, civil confinement legislation has finally passed. It took a great deal of grassroots support from across the state to stimulate the rank and file members of the lethargic Assembly Majority to take up this long overdue legislation today. Civil confinement is, and always has been, about protecting our children and ensuring the safety of our families. As a grandparent I can’t think of any issue that’s more important than securing the welfare of our loved ones and protecting our constituents. Today marks an historic event and I applaud the people of this state for demanding this civil confinement legislation.
