FINCH ANNOUNCES STATE AID INCREASES FOR HIS ASSEMBLY DISTRICT

Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C-Springport) today announced the major state aid increases for the cities and towns in his 123rd Assembly District that have been included in the proposed budget agreement reached by legislators late Tuesday.

“It is not a secret that the cost of doing business and living here in Central New York is rising,” said Finch. “With these new increases in state aid, I am hopeful that property taxes will not have to rise in order to help our local municipalities.”

Finch reported that three of the towns in his district would receive the following:

  • Auburn – Nearly a 25 percent increase in aid and a total of more
    than $4.5 million

  • Norwich –* Nearly a 25 percent increase in aid and a total of more
    than $1 million

  • Owego –* Nearly a 20 percent increase in aid and a total of more than
    $30,000

Finch also reported that all towns in his Assembly District would receive, on average, a 20 percent increase in unrestricted state aid.

“Throughout Central New York, local officials often find it difficult to govern municipalities with the limited funds they receive,” said Finch. “Through this large increase in state aid, I am hopeful that homeowners will not see any large increases in their property taxes. I am confident this large state aid increase will create a better quality of life for the residents of Central New York.”
