ASSEMBLYMAN FINCH HOSTS DISABILITY AWARENESS DAY
Honors Auburn Resident Ed Gauthier

Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C-Springport) today presented the “Excelsior Award for Excellence” to Cayuga County resident Ed Gauthier who has succeeded in spite of his disability. The “Excelsior Award for Excellence” honors the extraordinary achievements and public service of those who have overcome physical disabilities and other personal challenges.

“Ed is a true advocate in my district whose activities have enhanced the quality of life in the Auburn community,” said Finch. “He puts the miles on as he travels around Auburn in his wheelchair and keeps an eye out for issues that affect other people with disabilities and is constantly on the lookout for items such as sidewalks in need of repair, curb cuts that either need to be installed or need fixing, or suggesting locations for the push buttons to activate pedestrian crossing in cross walks, just to name a few.”

Disability Awareness Day was the brain child of Assembly Republican Leader James Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady-Saratoga) and Assemblyman Matthew Mirones (R,C,I-Staten Island).

“Ed is an amazing individual who gives back to the community of Auburn,” said Finch. “I am honored to know Ed both on a personal and professional level as he continues to raise awareness about the needs of the disabled. It is because of people like Ed that our communities are whole.”
